How was it?
Kyiv Tech Hub 2020 took place in a new online/offline hybrid mode, which entailed working at lightning speed and adapting to new challenges. With over 180 participants, the event successfully followed up on the first edition of 2017. Startups and experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders took the opportunity to learn and expand their network in an inspiring atmosphere at the high-tech capital of Eastern Europe – Kyiv.

In inspiring sessions, leading experts shared their entrepreneurial expertise while startups had the opportunity to present their business idea.
Startup Competition
Over 60 projects from all over Ukraine have applied for the fourth edition of Kyiv Tech Hub, out of which 20 have been selected to present their projects during the final. Among the ideas qualified for the final twenty, there were startups from the gaming segment, suppliers of solutions for medicine or construction. During the first day of the conference, their solutions were be presented by AnimAR, Uniorder, WareTeka, River Solar, Harmix, Re-leaf TEXTILE, Caretech Human, Elomia, Fiway, Impulsar, Projectium.Network, Chillinger, CarpeDiem, Lawyerd!, MedLed, NADC, IOON, Desnovation, Agrodynamix, and Auther.
The jury, which has consisted of representatives of VC funds and the Cooperation Fund Foundation, have evaluated the startups on the basis of such criteria as business potential, scalability, competence, and completeness of the team, but also the way the project was presented. The jury included 5 experts: Jacek Ostrowski, Member of the Board at Cooperation Fund Foundation; Paweł Bochniarz, CEO at ValueTech VC; Katarzyna Grondkowska, project manager at Simpact VC; Marcin Woźniak, CEO at AgriTechHub, Diana Koziarska, founding partner at SMOK VC.

The first award, the amount of PLN 30,000 was granted to Elomia – a virtual friend that makes you feel your best. Elomia’s technology is based on cognitive behavioral therapy to provide psychological support to anyone, anywhere, anytime. The second and third place awards, the amount of PLN 10,000 each, went to RE-leaf PAPER and Caretech Human projects. RE-leaf PAPER makes sustainable packaging materials from fallen leaves and helps cities on their way to carbon-neutrality. CareTech.Human is an innovative point-of-care for fully automated continuous health monitoring. It allows the detection of diseases at an early stage. Diabetes, cancer, bowel, kidney, and liver diseases are accompanied by the appearance of unique biomarkers in human urine.
„There are many entrepreneurs on the Ukrainian market who have interesting, non-standard ideas and skills to implement them in real life. Such initiatives as Polish-Ukrainian Startup Bridge are not only a great chance for them to get funding but also a unique opportunity to present themselves to a wider audience”, comments Paweł Bochniarz, one of the Kyiv Tech Hub jury members and CEO of ValueTech Seed.
Day 2: 1-on-1 meetings
During the second day of the Kyiv Tech Hub 2020 conference, we managed to connect 9 Venture Capital funds from Poland with over 30 Ukrainian startups. „We hope these exceptionally efficient meetings offered important business opportunities to both startups and investors and allowed participants to get a better understanding of the investor’s view on the startup businesses„, says Łukasz Wawak, project manager at Polish-Ukrainian Startup Bridge.
